The Asian Cup is the Asian Football Confederation's premier international tournament and is now held every four years.

The 2023 Asian Cup is back in Qatar just a year after the 2022 World Cup. Again 24 teams are participating. Japan are the pre-tournament favorites with the bookies.

Stadiums to be used include Al Bayt Stadium, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Education City Stadium, Lusail Stadium, Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, and Khalifa International Stadium.

Asian Cup 2019

The 2019 edition was held in the United Arab Emirates from 5 January to 1 February 2019. The tournament expanded from 16 to 24 teams. Qatar beat Japan 3-1 in the final at Zayed Sports City Stadium.

Asian Cup 2015

The 2015 Asian Cup was in Australia.The tournament took place from 9 January-31 January. The host cities were Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Newcastle & Sydney. The stadiums are Brisbane Stadium, Canberra Stadium, Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, Stadium Australia and Newcastle Stadium.

The competing teams in 2015 were hosts Australia, South Korea, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Korea DPR, China, UAE, Iran, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Japan, Palestine, and Qatar.

Asian Cup 2011

The 2011 Asian Cup took place in Qatar. The tournament was held in 5 stadiums, 4 of them in Qatar's capital Doha: the 50,000 capacity Khalifa International Stadium, the 25,000 capacity Al-Gharafa Stadium, the 19,000 capacity Qatar SC Stadium and the 15,000 capacity Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. The other stadium to be used is the Ar Rayyan Ahmed bin Ali Stadium which seats 25,000 spectators.

Asian Cup 2007

The Asian Cup in 2007 was held jointly by four nations: Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam and was won by Iraq. The 2004 Asian Cup was held in China and won by Japan, who also triumphed in the 2000 Asian Cup in Lebanon.

The winner of the Asian Cup takes part in the Confederations Cup.
