The Asian Cup is the Asian Football Confederation's premier international tournament and is now held every four years.
The last Asian Cup in 2007 was held jointly by four nations: Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam and was won by Iraq. The 2004 Asian Cup was held in China and won by Japan, who also triumphed in the 2000 Asian Cup in Lebanon.
The 2011 Asian Cup is scheduled for Qatar. The tournament will be held in 5 stadiums, 4 of them in Qatar's capital Doha: the 50,000 capacity Khalifa International Stadium, the 25,000 capacity Al-Gharafa Stadium, the 19,000 capacity Qatar SC Stadium and the 15,000 capacity Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. The other stadium to be used is the
Ar Rayyan Ahmed bin Ali Stadium which seats 25,000 spectators.
