Banking hours in Ukraine are usually 9am-4pm.
Private currency-exchange offices are everywhere and it is illegal to change money anywhere else. Credit and debit cards are increasingly accepted. Money can be withdrawn from ATMs (bankomats) with a debit card. Cirrus, Plus, Visa and MasterCard are all recognised.
US dollars, Russian roubles and the Euro can easily be exchanged, the British Pound much less so.
Notes to be exchanged should be in pristine condition.
Changing travellers cheques involves a lengthy process and should be avoided.
Western Union and MoneyGram have many offices scattered throughout the country for sending and receiving money.
There is a chronic shortage of small demonination notes in Ukraine.
See here for conversion rates to and from the Ukrainian Hrivna.
