Ecuador have few survivors from their squad for the 2006 World Cup in Germany only Antonio Valencia and Edison Mendez remain from the team that lost to England in the Last 16.

Ecuador showed in their 2-2 friendly draw with England in Miami that they can hold their own with the top teams but they are over-reliant on Manchester United's Antonia Valencia after the tragic death of Cristian Benitez.

Ecuador are unlikely to beat France in their last group match but will be more confident of picking up the necessary points to progress from Group E against Switzerland and Honduras, especially considering they have own continent advantage.

Key player: Antonio Valencia

The Manchester United winger has had a poor season at Manchester United and seems to have lost a yard of pace but remains Ecuador's most important player.

One to watch: Felipe Caicedo

Ex-Manchester City striker Felipe Caicedo now plies his trade in the UAE and finished as top scorer in qualifying.

Coach: Reinaldo Rueda

Reinaldo Rueda took Honduras to the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa and comes up against his former team in Curitiba.
