Flights To Donetsk

Ukraine Travel: Travel To Ukraine To See England v Ukraine in Donetsk

Flights to the Ukraine

A Week in the Ukraine

A week in the Ukraine with weekends either side...and England/Ukraine in the middle...under £220 for return flights...go on then!

As the festivities begin and the cold sets in, it's beginning to look a lot like...winter! Bah humbug! Like many football fanatics, I have begun thinking about the summer and, in particular, Euro 2012. So, who fancies a jolly to the Ukraine in June to watch England's encounter with the hosts on the evening of Tuesday 19th?

"The climate of the Ukraine can be described as dry and continental influenced climate with warm, dry summers" (www.weatheronline.co.uk)

Can I tempt you?

Well, if you're free, or potentially could be free w/c 18th June, read on! I must admit that I assumed that all of the flights would be extortionate as the capitalist flight companies take advantage of the coveted event; alas this is not necessarily the case.

Now, when you take a week off work, there's nothing worse than finishing on the Friday and not having a bit of time to pack and prepare for your week away. Equally, arriving back all depressed on the Sunday evening and having to go straight to bed to get your beauty sleep for the dreaded start back at work on the Monday, is a nightmare.

Never fear, football and holiday-frolicking lovers, Uncle Chris is here to sort out your perfect week away:

Imagine it, will you.

5pm Friday 15th June - you finish work and have the weekend at home with the missus and/or the kiddies... Sunday morning comes and you can afford the lay in before you pack for the perfect week (Monday-Friday) away.

5.50pm Sunday, Heathrow - your flight leaves for Warsaw (in Poland, not to be confused with Walsall, West Midlands, although pronounced the same if you're a cockney...)

A couple of hours into your flight experience you call for a beer in Warsaw Airport and jump on another plane that will take you to the exact place that England will play against the Ukraine: Donetsk.

1.40am Monday, you arrive in Donetsk in time for the last few hours in an underground bar (where, incidentally, you will be allowed to smoke as 50% of Ukraine males still do it - compared with only 11% of females).

You wake up in your hotel around midday on Monday ready for another afternoon/night on the town before the big match on the Tuesday. This match could be crucial as both teams will have already played their opening two (England's against France and Sweden, respectively) and regardless of how optimistic a fan you are, you just know that England will not have won both matches... in fact we will most probably be in desperate need of the victory and you could be there to see it.

10pm, Tuesday night, England scrape a 0-0 and we've miraculously made the Quarter finals (to be played on either the Saturday 23rd - should we finish runners-up in the group, or Sunday 24th if we top the group - which is unlikely).

You party Donetsk-style until the early hours of Saturday morning (or travel around the wonderfully warm country for a few days) until you fly back to Heathrow (via Warsaw again) and arrive in London before 10am on the Saturday morning. Plenty of time to watch the quarter final (in the pub? Dare you?), regardless of which day it falls, and relax at home before work on Monday: job done.

How much does it cost? Well, the flights I refer to are currently £215 return with www.fly.co.uk, £216 with www.lastminute.com and £220 with Expedia...so - like England and The Ukraine on the 19th - there's nothing between them!
