Germany

Classic Football Shirts.

German pundits believe this is the best, all-round German squad in years, with a good chance to win Germany's first World Cup for 24 years. There are good alternatives in nearly every position, with only a really top class finisher missing, though veteran Miroslav Klose is just one goal shy of the Brazilian Ronaldo's record of 14. Germany share the goals around and may play without a recognized striker altogether, preferring Mario Gotze or Andre Schurrle in a "false number nine" role. At the back Arsenal's Per Mertesacker and Bayern's Jerome Boateng are favorites to get the nod as the two centrebacks.

Portugal

Portugal rely much on their inspirational captain, Ronaldo, who scored all the goals in Portugal's 4-2 play off win over Sweden. Playing in Brazil should also be an advantage for the Portuguese, who share a language and so much history with Brazilians. At the back, the Selecao can call on Real Madrid's Pepe and Fabio Coentrao and the midfield can boast such talent as William Carvalho, Joao Moutinho and Miguel Veloso. It is upfront, especially if Ronaldo is injured that Portugal lack quality, with Helder Postiga the striker in a 4-3-3 system with Nani and Ronaldo on the wings.

Ghana

Ghana have AC Milan veterans Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari in the center of their midfield and it is a little fanciful to believe their aging legs can propel the Black Stars out of the "Group of Death." More energetic are Juve's Kwadwo Asamoah and Marseille's Andre Ayew on the flanks. Throw in a weak-looking defence and an out-of-form goalkeeper in Fatau Dauda, who plays his club football in South Africa, and Ghana may struggle to win a game. Up front captain Asamoah Gyan has been adding to his luxury car collection with Al Ain in the UAE but has not been playing a lot of high-level football matches.

USA

USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann made a statement when he dropped the vastly experienced Landon Donovan from his squad. Whether it was the correct decision can only be judged after the group games, but it seems a perverse call when the other main goal-scoring options are Jozy Altidore, who has struggled at Sunderland in the English Premiership and Clint Dempsey, who has also not had the best of returns to the MLS. In goal the USA have talent in abundance but the defence looks shaky and, dare we say it, slow. In midfield, another MLS-returnee, Michael Bradley, will provide the ammunition for the forwards, where Aron Johannsson who plays his club football in Holland may get a chance.
