In a competitive group Russia will be the bookies' favourites to advance with a struggle for second place between Ireland and Slovakia. Macedonia are tough opponents at home, while Andorra and Armenia are the whipping boys in the group.

Yura Movsisyan gave Armenia the lead only for Mario Gjurovski to level within a minute Edgar Manucharyan appeared to have won it for the visitors in added time, but Il?o Naumoski claimed a dramatic draw from the penalty spot.

Russia held on to beat the Irish at Aviva Stadium after taking a three goal lead with strikes from Alexander Kerzhakov, Alan Dzagoev and a deflected Roman Shirokov effort. Ireland hit back with a Robbie Keane penalty and a goal from Shane Long but it was too little, too late for the men in green.

Second-half goals from Gevorg Ghazaryan and Henrik Mkhitaryan powered Armenia to a win over Slovakia, who levelled at 1-1 through a goal from Rangers' Vladimír Weiss.
