Honduras v France v 15 June; Porto Alegre
Honduras v Ecuador 20 June; Curitiba
Honduras v Switzerland 25 June; Manaus

Honduras retain a nucleus of their squad from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa: Wilson Palacios, Donis Escober, Maynor Figueroa, Emilio Izaguirre and Osman Chavez.

But matched against France, Ecuador and Switzerland it is hard to see Los Catrachos progressing from Group E.

Honduras have never won a game at the World Cup with a 1-1 draw with Spain in 1982 their best result to date.

Honduras are difficult to break down and defeat but offer little going forward, though a 2-1 win away to Mexico in qualifying has given the team new confidence.

Honduras may not progress to the second round but they could decide who does.

Key player: Emilio Izaguirre

A solid full back at Celtic in the Scottish Premier League, Izaguirre likes to get forward for the national team.

One to watch: Jerry Bengtson

Jerry Bengtson plays his football for New England Revolution in the MLS and racked up 9 goals in qualifying.

Coach: Luis Fernando Suarez

Luis Fernando Suarez is another Colombian coach for La Bicolor after taking over from compatriot Reinaldo Rueda in 2010. Suarez plays a cautious 4-4-2, though really a 4-5-1, with the second forward dropping into midfield.

Soccerphile Says

Honduras coach Luis Fernando Suarez is back for his second spell in charge of La Bicolor, who have a number of UK-based players in their squad. Solid and workmanlike are the two words that come to mind in describing Suarez's squad of football journeymen, who will look to catch teams on the break with 2 wide forwards in a classic 4-4-2.

Jerry Bengtson and Carlo Costly are the two strikers vying for the one striking role. Hull's Maynoe Figueroa is the team's defensive linchpin. It's hard to see Honduras getting out of this group as they have yet to win a game at a World Cup and finished bottom of their group in South Africa 2010, failing to score.

Honduras are big and tall and not afraid to mix it, as seen in their warm up friendly with England in Miami - no prisoners will be taken.
