Major League Soccer is North America's premier club competition.
MLS in its present format began in the 1996 season and presently consists of 16 teams: 15 in the USA and one in Canada. The league is due for further expansion in the near future.
MLS Format
The MLS season runs from March to November and the teams are divided into 2 conferences: Eastern & Western.
Superstar David Beckham's transfer to LA Galaxy has helped to raise the profile and profitability of the league.
MLS has three automatic berths in the CONCACAF Champions League.
