Sporting predictions by Chris Clegg - Putting your money where your mouth is!

Weekend Fixtures 21st January - 6th February, 2012

The missus came home last night smelling of candy floss...I think she's having a fair!

There are no less than twenty Premier League games over the next six days and with three points separating the top two and three points separating the bottom three, it's still all to play for at both ends.

Below is a chronological line-up from Tuesday to Sunday with odds in the column third from right representing home wins, second from right, draw odds and away wins in the far right column.

City Slippers?

Table toppers Manchester City travel to Everton on Wednesday and face Fulham back at Eastlands on Saturday. The bookies fully expect Mancini's men to bag six points; I don't.

Both Fulham and Everton are capable of getting something and I believe Everton will. The Toffees will make it sticky for City and a point is all they will take from Goodison Park. With United bagging all three points at home to Stoke, the difference will only be a point on Wednesday evening. United travel to fourth placed Chelsea on Sunday, from which they will be praying to take three points. 15/8 is cracking value for a United victory; a point is more likely, though: get on @ 21/10.

A Uruguayan, an Argentinian and a Dutchman at Anfield

Another mouth-watering encounter next weekend is the Monday night game at Anfield, where Liverpool entertain Spurs. Rumour has it that the Reds may be signing Mr Tevez from Manchester City. So Liverpool will have a Uruguayan, an Argentinian and a Dutchman... sounds like the start of a joke! It won't be funny for Spurs as their fading title hopes come to an end. 6/5 is a nice price for a home win. Harry's woes are piling up. Maybe his best mate Milan will lend him a shoulder to cry on...or a few million pounds, perhaps.

All Square in Swansea

Before we get to the weekend, there's a few tidy ties to whet the appetite. One of which is in Wales as Swansea take on Chelsea. The Swans have been sublime at the Liberty Stadium this season, losing only one match. The Blues have only lost one match away from home - only three losses in twenty two encounters...something's got to give, hasn't it? Perhaps not: 23/10 about the draw looks tempting...7/2 against a Swansea victory is also attractive. Don't be seduced, though, the draw's a cert!

Another draw at Loftus Road

7/2 is the same price for QPR to win at Aston Villa on Wednesday. Mark Hughes's new outfit have won three times away from home this season and Villa have only won three at home...another draw here then? Get on at 23/10.

Bottom three

The bottom three are all in action twice in less than a week and Wigan's season may just be over on Tuesday evening as Spurs inflict yet another defeat on the Latics. Wolves host Liverpool on Tuesday and travel to QPR at the weekend - more trouble for McCarthy as the Wolves go hungry for points. Wigan and Wolves certain for the drop, then? And what about Blackburn Rovers? Newcastle at home on Wednesday; Arsenal away on Saturday. One point maximum from the Geordies on Wednesday; nada at the Emirates. Bottom three will remain as it is after the weekend and it may not change significantly for the remainder of the season.

The only other team I can see being drawn back in to the relegation dog fight is Bolton Wanderers and with Arsenal and Norwich City to contend with this week they won't pull clear just yet. As you were at the foot, then.

Midweek Wager

Choose any three from four draws at Blackburn (versus Newcastle); Villa (v QPR); Everton (v Man City) and Swansea (v Chelsea). Any three will provide odds of at least 35/1 - £350 for your tenner.

Weekend Wager

Get on five home wins at Norwich (v Bolton); West Brom (v Swansea); QPR (v Wolves); Arsenal (v Blackburn) and Man City (v Fulham). A tenner on this foursome picks up over £140. Happy days!
