The 65,857 seat state-of-the-art Daegu Sports Complex Stadium is the biggest in Korea. It was completed in May 2001 at a total cost of $US 226m. Construction work began in July 1997 and involved companies from the US, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. 75% of the seating area is covered with a giant 54m high roof but the ends behind the goals are not roofed to allow views of the surrounding mountains and help the turf. There are 2 giant video screens, a running-track and 3 storeys underground. The outer wall of the impressively designed stadium can be used for artificial rock climbing and bungee jumping. There are also restaurants and conference centers, open-air theaters and even an outdoor wedding site situated in the massive complex. |
