Cosmic Football - Owen Coyle

Burnley manager Owen Coyle is the subject of Cosmic Football's astrological profile this month.

Owen Coyle has his Sun in the sign of Cancer, which makes him an intuitive and thoughtful individual. With as many as 5 planets in water signs in Coyle's chart, I would think the Burnley manager is pretty open minded and won't be afraid to change his tactics, formation or personnel in the forthcoming season, if he thinks it will suit his club.

The big question is, will Coyle's approach succeed in the Premier League?

There are as many as nine 'Saturn hits' in his chart throughout 2009/2010. A Saturn hit is when an individual's transiting planets collide with natal planets. This will almost always result in that person being put under extreme pressure during this period, with success difficult to achieve throughout this period. It's an obvious thing to say, but Burnley won't find life easy in the Premiership and what I can see from Coyle's chart is that the opening stage of the campaign will be especially challenging.

Saturn is the great teacher and one thing that will certainly happen in the opening months of the season is that Coyle will learn a lot about himself and his team. With a number of cardinal signs in his chart, the Burnley manager will at least have the strength and ability to learn quickly. The key message is not to write Burnley off no matter how poorly they may start the season.

What is interesting about Coyle's chart is the individual road he may go on throughout the season. Saturn is conjunct his Uranus in 2009/2010, which is representative of powerful forces of change colliding with internal resistance. What immediately springs to mind here, is whether Coyle may have a strong disagreement with his board or a key player over the next twelve months. One may also wonder whether he was in fact close to getting the Celtic job, but for Burnley blocking the Scottish team's efforts to speak to Coyle. If the later is the case, the manager may hold that against the Turf Moor outfit.

Saturn's position in Coyle's chart raises the possibility of him making a major decision that is a surprise to other people. I have an intuitive feeling that he will leave Burnley Football Club around January 2010, possibly to move to a bigger and better job. There are indications in Coyle's chart that despite his success over the last few years, he has been considering his future for sometime.

What is definitely coming into his life is a new opportunity. While may perceive that to simply be the chance to manage in a new league I see something more specific – a new job and maybe even a new business or relationship opportunity.

Money is going to prove a massive frustration for Coyle in the next twelve months. A key theme of his chart over the season is financial restriction. I think he will know at this current time the players he will want to bring to Burnley. But I think that transfer budget and wages will be a huge obstacle in attracting players to Turf Moor.

I see Burnley making a valiant effort to stay in the Premiership, but I don't think they will have quite enough quality to do so. The lack of clarity of over Own Coyle's future and the poor start I see them making to the season will be the club's major downfall. However, this isn't necessarily going to be a negative season for Coyle. If he's still the manager of Burnley come the end of the season, which I seriously doubt, he will be better placed than the club to go on to bigger things.
