Euro 2008 Groups: Austria & Switzerland

The Euro 2008 draw took place in Lucerne, Switzerland, on December 2, 2007.

All the team details can be found below including team profiles, FIFA rankings, coaches, predictions, betting odds, fixtures and squads.

GROUP A

Switzerland
Czech Republic
Portugal
Turkey

A tough group with perhaps hosts Switzerland and one of Portugal and the Czech Republic hoping to join the Swiss in the knockout stages.

Turkey are the dark horses, though on FIFA world rankings alone, Portugal and the Czech Republic would expect to progress, though we are backing the Swiss to perform in front of their own fans.

GROUP B

Austria
Croatia
Germany
Poland

Group B is the most clear cut group with Germany and Croatia the favorites to progress. Austria have had a woeful year, even managing to lose at home to England.

A resurgent Poland are a threat but Germany and Croatia will be confident of picking up the points they need against both Austria and Poland to go through.

GROUP C

Holland
Italy
Romania
France

A brutal draw. The Group of Death. Money would favor France and Italy making it through...but one never knows. Romania lead by a revitalized Adrian Mutu are an improved side, while France and the Italians struggled through qualification.

Holland also had their set backs in qualifying but will bring the largest group of supporters. A fascinating group with three former winners in France, Italy and Holland all in contention to win again.

GROUP E

Greece
Sweden
Spain
Russia

Spain and holders Greece would be favored to progress on FIFA world rankings. Russia, under new coach Guus Hiddink are on the up but blow hot and cold, Sweden have failed to impress at major tournaments since USA 94. We go for Spain and one of Greece or Sweden to join them.
