Flights To Austria & Switzerland

Austria & Switzerland are most easily and quickly reached by air. There are various schedule, charter and no-frills flights from many European capitals to Geneva, Zurich, Vienna and other major cities including Graz (GRZ), Linz (LNZ), Klagenfurt (KLU), Salzburg (SZG) and Innsbruck (INN) in Austria and Basel (BSL), Bern (BRN), Lugano (LUG) and Sion (SIR), in Switzerland, with the UK being the most competitive in terms of price.

Online travel websites offer good bargains. Geneva (GVA) and Zurich (ZRH) are the major hubs for Switzerland, Vienna (VIE) for Austria. For information on getting from the airport to city centers see our City Guides.

The German national airline Lufthansa part owns Swiss international Airlines and the two airlines have an integrated timetable. Lufthansa's no frills subsidiary germanwings operates throughout Europe.

Most other national carriers have scheduled flights in to Switzerland and Austria from a variety of cities including Austrian Airlines, Air France, British Airways (BA), KLM and Virgin Atlantic to London (where onward connections to Switzerland/Austria can be made). From Asia Singapore Airlines has flights to London (where onward connections to Switzerland/Austria can be made) as well as Frankfurt.

Most scheduled flights to Switzerland fly into either Zurich or Geneva though EuroAirport near Basel (BSL) is gaining in importance. Vienna receives most of Austria's international flights. Bratislava airport in Slovakia is only 60km from Vienna and may be a cheaper alternative.

Many European countries have charter flights and package holiday deals for both Switzerland and Austria.
