Rugby World Cup 2003

Tickets | Betting | Renee's Round-up | Pool A | Pool B | Pool C | Pool D | Knock-Out Stage

Rugby logo. The Rugby World Cup is the biggest sporting event on the planet this year. Taking place in Australia from October 11 to November 22 twenty teams will be vying for the coveted world championship title. The World Cup like those before it promises to be a smorgasbord of talent, skill, ability and determination - hallmarks of this event.
As with any global sporting event, surprises are inevitable. New talent will emerge and others who are expected to shine may not.

Anticipate strong performances and progression through the preliminary round from the reigning champions Australia, France, South Africa, Scotland, Argentina, Wales, England and New Zealand. All eight teams were quarter finalists at the 1999 World Cup and therefore qualified automatically for this year’s challenge. A strong English side has impressed in the build up to this year’s World Cup. Coach Clive Woodward will expect the same remarkable form that saw England retain the Six Nation’s Championship and go on a 14-Test unbeaten run. England’s ability to dominate this year is not just limited to performances in their part of the globe. England upset the Antipodes this season with victories over both Australia and New Zealand. New Zealand will want to redress that June defeat dished out by the English but are looking particularly good after their Tri-Nation’s victory. The All Blacks won all four games against Australia and South Africa and took back the Bledisloe Cup.

Renee Karena keeps you up-to-date with her weekly round-up of all the action.
