Oct 12 2002
Macedonia 1-2 Turkey
Slovakia 1-2 England
Turkey
overcame an early goal from Macedonia's Vlatko Grozdanoski as Nihat Kahveci and Okan Buruk put Turkey top of Group 7.
A poor England scraped home against Slovakia on a muddy pitch amid crowd trouble and racist chants from the home supporters. Late goals from David Beckham and Michael Owen cancelled out Middlesbrough striker Szilard Nemeth's early strike.

Oct 16 2002
Turkey 5-0 Liechtenstein
England 2-2 Macedonia
Turkey easily beat the group's weakest team Liechtenstein to take control of group 7. First-half goals from Okan Buruk, Umit Davala and Ilhan Mansiz were followed by two from Serhat Akin in the final 10 minutes.
Another poor performance from England saw them drop two points in Southampton to unfancied Macedonia.
Bad errors from Arsenal pair David Seaman and Sol Campbell twice gave Macedonia the lead in the first half. Artim Sakiri scored direct from a corner with Seaman flapping at a high ball once again, before David Beckham's lobbed equaliser. Vanco Trajanov restored the visitor's lead until Steven Gerrard's volley levelled the game before half-time. There were no further goals in the second half and England had Alan Smith sent-off for a second yellow card at the death.

2003

Sat, March 29
Liechtenstein 0 v England 2
FYR Macedonia 0 v Slovakia 2
Plucky Liechtenstein restricted a poor England team to a goal in each half from Michael Owen and a David Beckham free kick.
Slovakia defended and counter-attacked well to beat Macedonia with goals from Martin Petras in the 28th minute and substitute Lubos Reiter in injury time.

Wed, April 2
England 2 v Turkey 0
Slovakia 4 v Liechtenstein 0
Everton wunderkind Wayne Rooney was the star of the show as England bounced back from a poor showing against Liechtenstein to beat Turkey with second-half goals from substitute Darius Vassell and a last-minute David Beckham penalty in a match marred by small pitch invasions following England's goals and a players' spat in the tunnel after the final whistle.
In a match played behind closed doors following racial abuse during Slovakia's game against England last year, Middlesborough's Szilard Nemeth, coming on as a sub, netted a brace for the home side with the other Slovak goals coming from Lubomir Reiter and Vladimir Janocko.

Sat, June 7
Slovakia 0 v Turkey 1
FYR Macedonia 3 v Liechtenstein 1
Liechtenstein took a shock early lead through Roger Beck, before Goce Sedloski from the spot, Mile Krstev and Ace Stojkov settled the match for the Macedonians.
Turkey regained top spot in the group with a first half volley from Nihat Kahveci.

Wed, June 11
England 2 v Slovakia 1
Turkey 3 v FYR Macedonia 2
After a shambolic first half when England trailed to a Vladimir Janocko free kick and could have been further adrift, a Sven Goran Erikkson reshuffle saw England storm back to win with a brace from Michael Owen - the first a dubious penalty and the second a powerful header from a Steven Gerrard cross.
A bad-tempered battle of the Balkans in Istanbul saw Macedonia twice take the lead through first half goals from Vlatko Grozdanovski and Baggies-bound Artim Sakiri only to be overhauled by goals from Nihat Kahveci, Gokdeniz and Hakan Sukur. UEFA seems certain to take action against the hosts after bottles and coins rained down from the terraces after Macedonia's goals.

Sat, Sept 6
Liechtenstein 0 v Turkey 5. Scorers: Tumer Metin, Okan Buruk, Hakan Sukur.
FYR Macedonia 1 v England 2. Wayne Rooney became the youngest player to score in an England shirt at the age of 17 when he equalised Georgi Hristov's opener. A Beckham penalty allowed England to squeeze by a good Macedonian team to take the 3 points in a match notable for racist chanting from the stands and poor performances from the entire England team - bar Beckham, substitute Heskey and wunderkind Rooney.

Euro 2004 Tours: Airtrack.Wed, Sept 10
