Estádio das Dragão (new) - 52,000 capacity.

The Estádio das Dragão in Porto is the new home of one of Portugal's top clubs - FC Porto, most recently European Champions in 2004. The US$109m stadium with its spectacular transparent roof - 'the veil' - was built on the site of the old Antas stadium and is part of the 'Sport City' redevelopment project in the city. The stadium also contains sections decorated with traditional Portuguese tiles - azulejos. The Estádio das Dragão stadium was designed by architect Manuel Salgado and will serve as a venue for concerts and other events.

Getting There

Das Dragão is north-east of Porto city centre. Match day special STCP buses run to the stadium from the Rotunda da Boavista (Praça Mouzinho de Albuquerque) or Praça da Liberdade.
Buses 21 and 78 run from the Rotunda or Avenida dos Aliados.

Bessa stadium.Estádio do Bessa Séc. XXI (remodelled) - 30,000 capacity.

The Estádio do Bessa Séc. XXI is the home of Porto's other top club - FC Boavista - champions for the first time in their history in 2001. The US$46m redevelopment project includes a hotel, underground parking and a conference centre. The stadium took five years to redevelop and the black and white seats - reflecting the club's colors are a notable feature. The proximity of the stands to the playing surface ensures a lively atmosphere. Look out for Boavista's triumphal arch, built in celebration of the 2001 championship, you can see a 3m long panther, the club symbol, climbing to the summit.

Getting There

Do Bessa is west of the city centre on Avenida da Boavista. Take buses 3, 19, or 24 from Praça da Liberdade or bus 78 from Avenida dos Aliados.
