FIFA World Cup is launched at Gibson Hall

Gibson Hall, located in the heart of the City was proud to host the launch of the 2006 World Cup to take place in Germany in June 2006 on Thursday 2nd February 2006.

140 guests attended this memorable event including Sven Goran Eriksson, Dietmar Hamann, Franz Beckenbauer and key FIFA officials. Upon arrival Guests enjoyed a glass of Champagne in the garden Room with beautiful views out into the fountain courtyard before entering the visual masterpiece of the Main Hall. An impressive 10m set spanned the width of the Main Hall and heartfelt presentations were given by Eriksson and Beckenbauer.

There was a warm atmosphere surrounding the night with many guests excited at the prospect of England lifting the World cup once again. The odds on England succeeding are currently 13/2 and the present team, remaining injury free represent the best chance England have of finally passing the quarter final stage and winning the elusive trophy.

This was an important event for English football as many guests emphasised the need to stand strong after drawing which could turn out to be a tricky group against Paraguay, Sweden and Trinidad & Tobago in the 2006 World Cup finals group stage next summer.

Donna from Sportsworld who attended the event said, "Gibson Hall was a fantastic venue" and the whole event was a complete success. Sven Goran Eriksson speech inspired as he believes England will be going to Germany to win the World Cup and joked about the coincidence of drawing Sweden again in the group stages.

Gibson Hall is a grand legacy to Victorian London and is the ideal venue for Launches, Presentations, Conferences and Private Events as its location, splendid architecture and array of modern facilities all create the prefect backdrop for any occasion.
