Another wealthy Johannesburg suburb north of Sandton is Fourways, home to the huge Montecasino shopping and entertainment plaza.

The vast mall is modeled on a Tuscan village complete with faux Italian buildings, cobbled streets, fountains and lots of red roof tiles.

This vast temple to Mammon has brand name shopping, restaurants, cinemas, a theater and a casino with Blackjack, Poker, American Roulette, Dice (Craps) and Baccarat plus scores of slot machines, one of which recently paid out over 900,000 Rand.

The theater puts on spectaculars such as Cats and Cinderalla on Ice; the Nu Metro multiplex has 15 screens showing the latest movies.

Stores at Montecasino include an Anime Café, a good book shop and a golf apparel outlet.

Montecasino Access

Sandton is around 20km north of Jo'burg's CBD. Montecasino is situated at the Fourways junction of William Nicol Drive and Witkoppen Road. From the N1 (Western Bypass) take the William Nicol Turnoff, turn onto William Nicol Drive and drive in a north towards Fourways.
Cross Leslie Road. At the next traffic light intersection (Kingfisher Road), turn right into Montecasino Boulevard.
