Group 1 I
World Cup 2010 Qualifying: Asia - Group 1
The top two teams in the group automatically qualify for the 2010
World Cup and the bookies' favorites must be Australia managed by
Pim Verbeek and Japan. Japan, however, look unconvincing under coach
Takeshi Okada (back for a second spell in charge of the national
team) and Bahrain are a threat to cause an upset. Uzbekistan scored
lots of goals in the previous qualifying round but look vulnerable
away from home. Qatar have made progress but look the lightweights
in the group.
