Home of Fenerbahce SK, the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium was originally
built in 1908 and renovated in both 1999 and 2006. The ground is
one of the most modern football venues in Turkey and with a capacity
of over 50,000, it is the third-largest stadium in the country.
Sukru Saracoglu Stadium has a five-star UEFA rating, making it
eligible to host major cup finals and international matches. In
May 2009, the stadium hosted the last UEFA Cup Final, with Shakhtar
Donetsk beat Werder Bremen.
After the final, work began in constructing additional seating
and a retractable roof at the venue based in the Kadikoy district
of Istanbul. The stadium is named after Sükrü Saracoglu,
the sixth Prime Minister of Turkey and Fenerbahce's former
club president.
Getting to Sükrü Saracoglu Stadium
Ferry
The easiest method of reaching the stadium from the European side
of Istanbul is by boat. A boat departs regularly from Eminonu Ferry
Terminal, which is located on Kennedy Cd, close to the Galata Bridge
travelling to Kadikoy.
Upon arrival at Kadikoy Ferry Terminal, supporters should head
uphill through the main shopping area on to Yogutcu Cayin Cd. After
a few minutes walk, the stadium is visible on your right hand side.
Train
Supporters travelling to the stadium from the Asian side of Istanbul
should head to Haydarpasa Train Station. The ground is visible and
signposted from the station.
