Chelsea Lose As Wilkins Exits

There was no correlation between Ray Wilkins' midweek departure and Chelsea's shock 3-0 home reverse to Sunderland over the last Premier League weekend, according to Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian blasted Chelsea's fourth defeat of the season as the worst performance since he joined the club in summer 2009 as goals from Nedum Onuoha, Asamoah Gyan and Danny Welbeck handed the visitors a deserved victory.

But Wilkins' exit played no part, he added. The former England captain was surprisingly axed after playing a leading role in guiding Chelsea to the domestic double last season.

Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma Win Asian Champions League

South Korea's Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma are the 2010 AFC Champions League champions following a 3-1 win over Iran's Zob Ahan over the weekend.

Seongnam captain Sasa Ognenovski was the hero, the Australian central defender scoring the opener and having a hand in his side's other two goals before being named man-of-the-match and the tournament's MVP.

"He has integrated himself really well with Korean football. He is the best stopper in the K-League," said coach Shin Tae-Yong afterwards.

Zenit Win Russian Premier League

Zenit St Petersburg have clinched the Russian Premier League title following CSKA Moscow's draw and their 5-0 win over Rostov.

Luciano Spalletti guided Zenit to their first championship since 2007, which was won under Dutchman Dick Advocaat, with two games to spare and has now claimed both league and cup silverware since his arrival last year.

Filippo Inzaghi To Play On

Former Italian international Filippo Inzaghi has insisted that his career isn’t over in the wake of the serious knee injury that has ruled him out for the rest of this season's Serie A.

The 37-year-old Milan striker reassured the club's fans that he intended to return next season. He said: "Deep down in your hearts you all know, as do I, that it will be difficult, but I won't give up. I will do everything, believe me, to ensure this is not the end."

LA Galaxy Out of MLS Cup

David Beckham's LA Galaxy suffered a surprise 3-0 loss to FC Dallas, who booked their place in the MLS Cup by winning the MLS Western Conference final.

They will take on the Colorado Rapids in Toronto this Saturday after the Rapids beat San Jose 1-0.
