Volkspark (People's Park) in the eastern part of Kaiserlautern opened in 1925. Though badly damaged in World War II, Volkspark reopened in 1959 and is now an oasis of green in the city. Enjoy walking paths, playgrounds for children, duck ponds, lakes, cultural events, ad hoc markets and even a bandstand.
