The football - specific Jeonju World Cup Stadium has a capacity of 42,477 seats and was opened in November 2001 after construction work began in January 1999. The stadium incorporates various environmentally-friendly features, including a large rainwater collection tank, and the roof over the stands mirrors a bamboo fan – a local product of the area.
