Jeju World Cup Stadium has a capacity of 42,256 seats and was the final Korean venue to be opened in December 2001 at a cost of $US100m. Work began in February 1999. The superb turf was imported from the USA and the spectacular roof symbolizes the net of a local fishing boat. There are views of the sea and Mt. Halla from the stands. The stadium in Seogwipo contains a museum dedicated to the 2002 World Cup.
