South Africa Travel: King Shaka International Airport Durban Arrivals & Departures

King Shaka International Airport, Durban

South African domestic flights.King Shaka International Airport (KSIA) in La Mercy, around 35km north of Durban is due to replace Durban Internation Airport in 2010. The airport will be South Africa's third busiest airport after OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg and Cape Town International Airport.

The new airport will be accessible from the N2 freeway and their are plans to build a rail link. All the major car rental firms are represented at the airport.

Planned since the 1970s, the new airport replaces the smaller Durban International Airport which was too small to handle 747s. All flights will be transferred to the new airport.
