Predictions

Host nations traditionally do well in this tournament, Mexico winning in 1999, France in 2003 and Japan reaching the final in 2001. We fancy Germany to perform and probably reach the final to face Argentina, who arrive at the tournament after beating rivals Brazil in the South American World Cup Qualifying zone. Brazil have not played well in this competition recently since winning in 1997. Euro 2004 winners Greece have struggled in their World Cup qualifying group but are dark horses again along with a talented Mexico. Australia, Japan and Tunisia lack the firepower up front to trouble the big teams and will be home after their three group matches having hopefully picked up some useful experience along the way at this level.
