Air Travel to Germany

Germany is most easily and quickly reached by plane. There are various schedule, charter and no-frills flights from many European capitals to Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich and other major cities, with the UK being the most competitive in terms of price. Online travel websites offer good bargains. Frankfurt airport is the major hub for Germany with Berlin a close second. The German national airline Lufthansa flies to 175 destinations in 75 countries, including the USA, Brazil, Canada, China, Dubai, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and South Africa. It's no frills subsidiary germanwings operates throughout Europe.

Most other national carriers have scheduled flights in to Germany from a variety of cities including Air France, British Airways (BA), KLM and Virgin Atlantic to London (where onward connections to Germany can be made). From Asia Singapore Airlines has flights to London (where onward connections to Germany can be made) and Frankfurt.

Most scheduled flights fly into Frankfurt though many charter flights now use Berlin. It is possible to book flights flying in to Frankfurt and departing via Berlin or vice versa with Lufthansa.

Many European countries have charter flights and package holiday deals for Germany.

No-frills Budget Airlines

Air Berlin - flies London-Stansted to Berlin-Tegel, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover, Monchengladbach and Paderborn. Other flight connections with Athens, Barcelona, Lisbon, Madrid, Paris, Rome and other cities in mostly southern Europe.

Easyjet flies to Berlin-Schonefeld, Cologne, Dortmund and Munich from Liverpool and London-Stansted airports.

Germanwings - Lufthansa's no-frills subsidiary operates throughout Europe including flights from London, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Milan to Cologne-Bonn, and Barcelona Budapest, Lisbon, Madrid, Prague and Rome to Cologne and Stuttgart and connections to Scandinavia from Berlin.

Ryanair flies to Berlin-Schonefeld, Frankfurt-Hahn, Hamburg-Lubeck and other destinations in Germany from London-Stansted and from other airports around the UK and Europe.

Germany Accommodation

Germany offers a range of good accommodation for all budgets from 5 star international class hotels to budget hostels for a few Euros. There is a wide variety of accommodation types and prices in the big cities as well as more traditional country-style inns and small hotels in more rural and mountainous areas, such as the German Alps.
