Niedersachsenstadion (reconstruction) - 45,000 capacity for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Currently the overall capacity has risen to 49,000 making it the 15th largest stadium in Germany.
The original Niedersachsenstadion in Hannover was completed in 1954 and has been home to the Bundesliga's Hannover 96 since 1959.
The stadium was used for the 1974 World Cup with both Brazil and Holland playing matches here. In addition the stadium has hosted various big name concerts including by The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Coldplay.
Reconstruction began in March 2003 and the stadium was completed in December 2004 at an estimated cost of 64 million Euros. There are 2 x 41 square meter LED video screens and a stat-of-art PA system. Barrier-free, accessible toilets are located on the lower level.
Hannover 96 were founded in 1896 hence the name. Nicknamed "Die Roten' or The Reds, the team have won the German football championship twice (1938 and 1954) and the DFB-Pokal in 1992, the first second-division side to do so. Some notable players include German internationals Gerald Asamoah, Sebastian Kehl and Fabian Ernst. American full back Steve Cherundolo aka 'Captain America' made 370 appearances for the club (a record) between 1999 and 2014, keeper Robert Enke, talented Albanian midfielder Altin Lala and record goal scorer Dieter Schatzschneider (1978-1982; 1988-1989) are all 96 legends in Lower Saxony.
The ground offers good accessibility for wheelchair users, including dedicated parking (P2/P4) and accessible entry points.
Public and private tours are available offering behind-the-scenes access to VIP areas, press rooms, and the mixed zone etc.

Take the tram line U3, U7 or U0 towards Wettbergen, Wallensteinstrasse or
Empelde to Waterloo, from there it is a seven minute walk.
