Braga Stadium

The city of Braga is home to Sporting Clube de Braga and their new US$80.4m home is located in a spectacular setting - carved out of the granite of Monte Castro. The unique design - with only two lateral stands with no seating behind the goals - was created by Portuguese architect Eduardo Souto de Moura. Steel cables are stretched between the two stands.

Behind one goal is the granite wall of the mountain and behind the other an open space with a view of the valley beyond. The stadium was inaugurated 30 December 2003. The stadium received mixed reviews from coaches at Euro 2004 but seemed to represent a novelty for the fans.

Getting There

The stadium is located in the city's new Parque Urbano, to the north of the town center.
