Asian Cup 2015 Groups

Group A | Group B | Group C | Group D

The sixteen competing teams are divided into four groups of four teams.

The top two teams from each group progress to the quarterfinals.

The matches will be held in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Newcastle & Sydney. The stadiums are Brisbane Stadium, Canberra Stadium, Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, Stadium Australia and Newcastle Stadium.

Asian Cup 2015 Schedule

Group A

The hosts Australia, Korea Republic, Kuwait, and Oman make up Group A. Australia and South Korea are heavy favorities with the bookies to progress from this group as they did from Group C in 2011 in Qatar. In 2011 the two Asian powerhouses drew 1-1.

Group B

Uzbekistan, Korea DPR, China and Saudi Arabia make up Group B. This is a much more open group with Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan probably just favorites to progress.

Group C

Group C has a Middle Eastern flavor with UAE, Iran, Bahrain and Qatar involved. Historically Iran should be favorites with Qatar having much to prove as a footballing nation having been awarded the 2022 World Cup.

Group D

Group D contains holders Japan, plus Jordan, 2007 winners Iraq and minnows Palestine. Japan should win this group by some distance with Iraq second.

Asian Cup

The Asian Cup is the Asian Football Confederation's premier international tournament and is now held every four years.

The 2015 Asian Cup takes place in Australia.

The winner of the Asian Cup takes part in the Confederations Cup.
