Capacity & History
BMO Field in Toronto opened in 2007 at a cost of C$62.9 million and is the home of both Major League Soccer (MLS) Toronto FC and Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
The stadium's capacity was originally 20,000 but has been expanded to 30,000. For the 2026 World Cup temporary seating will bring the capacity to over 45,000.
A major redevelopment at a cost of C$120-150 million between 2014 and 2016 added a roof, new seating, and modern facilities with Toronto Argonauts moving in in 2016.
There are tours of the stadium available for visitors but they are usually offered through Toronto FC or special event packages rather than as a daily public attraction.

Toronto FC
Nicknamed 'The Reds' (or TFC), Toronto FC play their home games at the stadium. The club was founded in 2006 (becoming Canada's first MLS club) and play in a predominately all red kit.
The club's honors include a domestic treble in 2017 when the team lifted the MLS Cup, Supporters' Shield and Canadian Championship. They were runners up in the MLS Cup in 2016 and again in 2019.
Some famous players to have represented the club include Sebastian Giovinco, Michael Bradley (son of Bob), Jozy Altidore and former Napoli striker Lorenzo Insigne.
Some former managers include Greg Vanney, who led the team to the 2017 treble, Ryan Nelsen and Bob Bradley, the first American coach in the Premier League with Swansea City.
