FC Farce by Darryl Barkwill

FC Farce by Darryl Barkwill

FC Farce by Darryl Barkwill is a comic novel set in the world of lower league football where the owner is still a local businessman, the shirts shrink in the wash and the old team bus breaks down en route to matches.

The story whips along and It is a pleasant read imbued with a love for the grassroots game. The comedy is constant and any non-league fan will relate to the familiar tales of amateur dramatics on and off the field. My favourite image was of a flock of sheep invading the pitch after a row with a disgruntled farmer.

With a polished screenplay it could make a funny film along the lines of Channel Four's classic 11 Men Against 11.
