The domestic seasons around Europe are coming to a close, and all attention will swiftly turn towards the transfer window after the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool at the end of the month. Liverpool were the favorites to win the European honor to bring a close to their famous season.
Every club in the top tiers of European soccer will be looking to catch the teams involved in the European showpiece over the summer, which means that there will be big summers ahead for some of the biggest club sides on the planet. But, who are some of the big stars that look set to be on the move during the off-season?
Robert Lewandowski
One of the best strikers in world soccer looks set to move this summer, as Robert Lewandowski looks set to turn his back on Bayern Munich after eight years with the Bavarian giants. During his stay in the Bundesliga, he has won an astounding eight league titles with Bayern, and the Champions League in 2020.
He also broke the long-standing record held by Gerd Muller in 2020-21, as he scored 41 goals in the Bundesliga. Lewandowski will go down as a Bayern legend and looks set to leave the club after scoring 344 goals in 375 games across all competitions.
However, it looks likely that we will be seeing him line up for Barcelona at the start of the 2022-23 season, as he has 8/13 odds to sign for the Catalonian club before the end of the transfer window.
Darwin Nunez
Lewandowski isn't likely to be the only striker that is on the move this summer, as the highly-regarded Benfica forward Darwin Nunez is also expected to move to pastures new.
Nunez made his international debut for Uruguay in 2019, when he was aged just 19, and he scored on his debut against Peru. His reputation has reached new heights throughout the 2021-22 season, as he has struck 26 goals in just 28 games for Benfica in the Primeira Liga.
He has also scored 34 goals in all competitions this season, which includes six in ten games in the Champions League.
It has been reported that he could be set for a big-money move to Manchester United, as the Red Devils look to strengthen their forward line under Erik ten Hag.
The striker currently has 5/4 odds to sign for the Red Devils this summer.
Frenkie De Jong
Manchester United is also in the market for a defensive midfielder this summer, which could lead to a reunion for Erik ten Hag with former Ajax star Frenkie de Jong, as the midfielder is ¼ to sign for the Red Devils.
There's no denying that his potential arrival would solve a problem area for United, as he improves on what they currently have at their disposal. Reports have emerged that have claimed that the Catalonian giants could be about to cash in on the 25-year-old.
The Dutchman has been with Barcelona since the summer of 2019, after he joined the La Liga side from Ajax.
He has been a regular fixture in the Barcelona team throughout his three-season stay with the club, as he has played 97 games in La Liga, and has scored eight times.
However, Xavi could allow the midfielder to reunite with ten Hag this summer, as he looks to strengthen the Barcelona front line by financing a move for Lewandowski.
De Jong currently has 9/2 odds to be with Manchester United next season.
Gabriel Jesus
The arrival of Erling Haaland at Manchester City this summer is likely to lead to the exit for Gabriel Jesus.
The 25-year-old has been at the Etihad since 2017, but has often played a bit-part role, as Pep Guardiola favored Sergio Aguero, and has often played a false nine since the Argentinean departed the club.
Arsenal are the front-runners to sign the Brazil international this summer, and they could get their man for a cut fee.
Jesus has played an important role for City throughout his stay at the club, and has scored 58 goals in 158 Premier League appearances. That includes eight goals in 27 games throughout the 2021-22 season.
However, following the arrival of Haaland, Jesus is reportedly open to a move away from Guardiola's side.
Jesus currently has 11/10 odds to be with Arsenal to start next season.
