Moss Lane (the J. Davidson Stadium since 2013) is in the Altrincham area of Greater Manchester in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford. It is the home of professional football club Altrincham FC. The ground also stages games for Manchester United's under 17s side and serves as a backup venue for Manchester United WFC.

Capacity

The ground has a capacity of 5,450 and dates back to 1910.

It comprises two all-seater stands - the Main Stand and the Family Stand. In addition there are three terraces - the Hale End terrace for away supporters, the Golf Road terrace for home fans and the Popular Side terrace.

Altrincham FC Club History

Nicknamed 'The Robins' or 'Alty' - Altrincham FC were founded in 1891 and have spent their entire existence in the lower leagues. The club moved to Moss Lane in 1910. Altrincham FC has missed out on election to the Football League on several occasions including in 1979, narrowly in 1980 and 1981.

In the FA Cup, Altrincham defeated Birmingham City 2-1 then in the top flight at St Andrew's in the 1985-86 season. The Robins have a record of giant-killing in the Cup with other wins against higher ranked opposition including Wigan Athletic in the 1994-1995 season and Barnsley in 2015-2016.

In 2022 the club became fully professional for the first time in their history.

Access - Getting There

The ground is about 10 miles southwest of central Manchester on the A56 or A5103.

Metrolink trams run from both Victoria Station and Manchester Piccadilly to Altrincham Interchange.

Mainline trains from Manchester Piccadilly for Chester via Stockport and Navigation Road also stop at the station.

Buses from Manchester Piccadilly bus station run to Altrincham Interchange, the Arriva 263, and slower Stagecoach X41.

The ground is a 15 minute walk from Altrincham Interchange.
