Tameside Stadium in Ashton-under-Lyne in Greater Manchester is the home of Curzon Ashton.

The stadium was opened by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2005.

Outside the ground is a statue dedicated to three locally-born players who have won the World Cup. The World Cup Heroes statue is by sculptor Andy Edwards. The work in bronze was unveiled in 2010. The plaque reads "This statue stands as a testament to Tameside's place in football history as the birthplace of three men who hold World Cup winner's medals. Sir Geoff Hurst MBE England 1966 (b Ashton 1941). Jimmy Armfield OBE England 1966 (b Denton 1935). Simone Perrotta Italy 2006 (b Ashton 1977)."

Capacity

The stadium has a capacity for 4,000 spectators. The main stand has 524 seats, with the other three terraces being standing only.

The playing surface is natural grass. Adjacent to the stadium, there is a also full-size 3G artificial turf pitch.

Facilities include both The Function Room and the Nash bar.

The Club: Curzon Ashton

The team are nicknamed "The Nash" and play in an all dark blue kit.

Curzon Ashton were formed as recently as 1963 following the amalgamation of two clubs, Curzon Road and Ashton Amateurs. The Nash began life in the Manchester Amateur League, winning the title twice and finishing runners-up in their first three seasons. The club is presently in the National League North - the sixth tier of English football.

Access - Getting There

The nearest Metrolink station is Ashton West on the Ashton Line from Piccadilly Station. The journey from Piccadilly takes about 30 minutes. The tram stop is about half a mile from the ground at the top of Richmond Street.

There are trains from Manchester Victoria Station and Huddersfield Station on the Huddersfield Line to Ashton-under-Lyne. From the station it is a 10-15 minute walk to the ground.

Free car parking is available with six disables spaces.
