Tosu Stadium (Ekimae Real Estate Stadium)
Tosu Stadium (駅前不動産スタジアム) known as Ekimae Real Estate Stadium (for sponsorship reasons) in Tosu, Saga Prefecture, Kyushu is the home ground of J.League club Sagan Tosu.
What is the History & Capacity of Tosu Stadium?
The 24,000 capacity ground was built in 1996 and is one of the closest stadiums in the J.League to a mainline railway station.
The main stands on both sides of the pitch are covered with the terraces behind the goals at either end open to the elements. It rains at lot in Kyushu so be warned.
Sagan Tosu
Sagan Tosu were formed in 1997 making them a relatively new club in Japanese football. In 1999 they participated in J2 and gained promotion to the top flight in 2011. They remained in J1 until the 2024 season when they were relegated after a 2-0 defeat to Kyoto Sanga with four games to go in the season. Spanish international Fernando Torres played 35 games for the club between 2018 and 2019 scoring five goals. Tosu were the former Atletico, Liverpool and Chelsea forward's last club.
How do You Get to Tosu By Public Transport? Access - Getting There
Tosu is about 36 km south of Fukuoka city and easily reached by JR train from Hakata Station. The Kamome Express train takes about 40 minutes between the two. From Tokyo the fastest shinkansen bullet trains take 5 hours from Tokyo Station to Hakata Station. Tokyo and Fukuoka are also connected by air from Haneda Airport.
Tosu Station is under five minutes on foot from the ground. Visitors can see the ground from the train as it pulls into Tosu Station.
There are several good places to eat and drink close to Tosu Station before or after a game.
Where Are Some Nearby Hotels in Tosu?
The ground is near to several hotels clustered around the station including Green Rich Hotel Tosu Ekimae, the Sun Hotel Tosu Saga and Hotel Route-Inn Tosu Ekimae.
Visiting teams often stay at the Hotel Bientos going the other way from the stadium away from the station. All are good standard, 3-star business hotels.
Tosu city is not full of tourist attractions, nearby Nagasaki has more to see and do.
