Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, Sevilla
Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium (Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán) is the home ground of LaLiga side Sevilla FC.
The 42,700 capacity stadium in Seville was built between 1955 and 1958 and opened in 1958 with a friendly against Jaén.
The stadium has also been subsequently renovated in 1996 and 2017.
Capacity
Originally the stadium had a capacity of over 70,000 but this was reduced to an all-seater capacity of 42,700 in the renovations of the 1990s.
Like the home of Boca Juniors in Argentina, the ground has the nickname of "La Bombonera."
Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán staged two matches at the 1982 World Cup in Spain - Brazil v the Soviet Union and West Germany v France. It has also hosted various European finals including the 1986 European Cup Final between Steaua București and Terry Venables' Barcelona and the 2022 UEFA Europa League Final between Glasgow Rangers and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Interestingly, the Spanish national team has never lost a match here.
