Korea Travel: Seoul Station
The new Seoul Station, which was completed in 2004, is the major rail hub in South Korea and the starting point for KTX trains to Busan.
Seoul Station stands next to the Japanese-built former station, which was modeled on Tokyo Station and constructed in 1900.
The Japanese red-brick, colonial-era building has now been reopened as a cultural space and event hall - Culture Station Seoul 284.
KTX Trains to Busan
The high-speed Gyeongbu Line running KTX trains connects Seoul to Busan via Daejeon and Daegu in around 2 hours. With completion of new track between Daegu and Busan via Ulsan in 2010, journey time was reduced for the Seoul-Busan route.
Saemaeul express trains to Busan also leave from Seoul Station connecting South Korea's two main cities in just over 4 hours.
One-way ticket prices from Seoul to Busan on KTX vary depending whether you travel on a weekday or weekend, standard-class or first-class. It is the most expensive standard-class ticket in the country. Saemaul will set you back less while taking the Mugunghwa is the cheapest but also the slowest.
Train tickets can be purchased online, from ticket offices or from ticket machines at train stations in Korea.

KTX trains to Busan also stop at Yongsan Station and from here KTX trains run on the south westerly route to Gwangju, Gimje and Mokpo on the Honam Line.
Local trains from Seoul Station also head north to Dorasan Station on the Gyeongui Line, which used to link Seoul with Pyongyang. Dorasan Station is on the edge of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).
AREX Trains to Incheon Airport
AREX trains run from Seoul Station via Gimpo Airport to Incheon International Airport in Incheon.
The station concourse is light and spacious and has a number of shops, cafes and restaurants available for travelers. Platform tickets can be purchased for avid train-spotters.
Seoul Station connects with the Seoul subway on lines 1 (for Suwon) and 4. To get to Seoul World Cup Stadium change from Line 4 to Line 6.

There are several hotels clustered around Seoul Station in the capital.
