The Swall Siro Stadium previously the Miners Welfare Ground in Swallownest, Rotherham, South Yorkshire is the home of Swallownest FC in the United Counties League Division One (UCL), the 9th tier of football in England. The name derives from the club's nickname 'Swall.'

The ground was previously known as the Miners Welfare Ground. Swallownest have played here since 2008.

Facilities

There is covered seating and standing located behind the goal at the clubhouse end of the ground and also along one side of the pitch.

Otherwise there is hard standing areas around parts of the pitch.

The ground has pylon style floodlighting and a natural turf pitch.

A licensed bar is available serving both alcoholic and soft drinks plus a food outlet offering pie and chips, hot dogs, crisps as well as tea and coffee etc. The walls are decorated with club photographs and signed shirts.

Club

Nicknamed 'The Swall' Swallownest date from as recently as 2006 and began life as "Aston" in the South Yorkshire Amateur League (SYAL).

As Aston the club began competing in the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League (S&HCSL) in Division Two, earning back-to-back promotions to reach the Premier Division by 2010. That same year, they adopted the new name of Swallownest Miners Welfare and duly won the County Senior League championship remaining undefeated for the entire season.

In 2015 the club changed their name again to Swallownest FC and in 2017 were promoted to the Northern Counties East League (NCEL) Division One.

Due to the FA's constitutions for the 2025-26 season, the club were moved from the Northern Counties East League and into the United Counties League of non-league football in England.

The team plays in all blue with white sleeves.

Access - Getting There

Swallownest is 7 miles east of Sheffield and 6 miles south of Rotherham in South Yorkshire.

Take a 71A Harthill-bound bus from Sheffield Interchange and get off at the Rotherham Road/High Street. Journey time is a lengthy 50 minutes. More direct is a First South Yorkshire X5 bus from Sheffield Interchange to the Sheffield Road/Parkhill stop. This route is only around 30 minutes at most.

Sheffield Station is a combined railway station and tram stop. It is the main point of access for visitors to the city.

There are trains to Huddersfield StationLeedsYork Station in YorkNewcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow Central & Aberdeen.

The station also has connections to Manchester Piccadilly in Manchester via New Mills Central, London St PancrasDerby, Norwich and Nottingham as well as Birmingham, Reading, Bristol, Plymouth and Penzance.

In addition, there are rail departures to Liverpool Lime Street in Liverpool via Stockport Station in Stockport and Manchester Piccadilly.

National Express buses depart from Sheffield Interchange at Pond Square, services depart from stands E1/E2.

There are buses to and from Sheffield to the spa town of Buxton in Derbyshire.

Parking spaces are available at the ground but are limited.
